CASAR DE BURBIA is an unhurried winery. They make wine from their own local areas called “pagos” and they defend the French concept of developing diverse pagos from which create different wines. That is the idea.

When Nemesio was a child he used to climb into the wine vats and play, years after he decided to buy vineyards convinced that El Bierzo was a good land. He purchased abandoned vineyards and they used local traditional grafting techniques, changing white grape varieties to the ruling variety of the area, Mencia.

Next was Isidro his son. They decided to create together CASAR DE BURBIA winery with the desire to produce utmost quality wine. The Mencía grapevines belonging to CASAR DE BURBIA are located on 27 hectares of hill land, situated at an altitude of 600 and 700m. The red slaty soil has a high tannic concentration.

This is the origin of straight and direct wine; wine that tends to be complex instead of trying to cover it all. It is a calmly made wine from beginning to end, not at all hurried.
