MERAYO WINERY is the result of a vocational project, not a production plan. This is how Pedro Merayo, the alma mater of the winery, describes it. MERAYO WINERY has the thrust and enthusiasm of a team defending a newly born project. It started in 2010 thanks to the determination to recover family roots. Although at the end of the eighties he created a company that commercialised fruit, he never abandoned the wine world which was his passion.

MERAYO WINERY is Pedro Merayo´s dream. With the help of his oenologist and friend Fermín, he modified the fruit warehouse and started the adventure of

commercialising quality wines based on the varieties Mencía, Godello and some Valenciana; this is done making the most of the qualities of the old vines and recovering almost 20 hectares of southern orientated vineyards near Valtuille de Arriba and Villafranca, from where you can see the ruins of the wine-press of Penediños.

Their wines are round, not edgy and very varietal, you can notice in them the nutrients from the clay soil; Fermín and the rest of the team look for perfection without forgetting the principles of a winery that wants to keep their homely character.

Direct on the nose, nice strength. Fresh and sweet, a very varietal fragrance. Bright raspberry red appearance, clean and shiny. In mouth has a nice palate, fresh and sweet. It is dense, good acidity and medium length.

3 months of aging on lees in tank
It has an intense fragrance. Green apple, stone fruit, citrus fruit and fennel touches. The mineral sensations envelop the wine and make it complex. It is round and voluminous in mouth, fresh. The work on the lees comes back in the taste, enhancing the wine and making it feel slightly sweet and in general harmonious.
