At the end of the eighties RIBAS DEL CUA WINERY emerges using the name of their emplacement, the riverbank of the Cúa river in the township of Cacabelos.

After the Regulatory Council of El Bierzo was established, three couples decided to create a winery based on the local variety of grapes Mencía. Their idea was to produce quality wines and defend the status of Mencía variety in the viticulture scene. This had to be done between all of them, as a family. After convincing all the neighbours to sell them a small plot of vineyard which was almost a miracle, they managed to join together 60 hectares of vineyard and establish Finca Robledo, made up from over 400 plots.

It is situated in Cacabelos and Pieros, next to Saint James way. There is a strong female presence in this winery, nowadays it is the daughters who make sure RIBAS DEL CUA is a well established winery and they battle to announce their wines, product of the fusion of tradition and modernity.

Their wines are varietal, intense, aromatic and fresh; wines with large contrasts, well distinguished aromas and structures, and with great characters.
